Buy This: Two New Comics Sure to Thrill

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/27/618x927/comics-velvet-1.jpgWelcome back, readers! We missed last weeks "Buy This" entry, so get ready because we're throwing two recommendations at you this time around. Both titles are all new and being published by Image. What's that? "Which one do I buy?" BOTH! Here's why!

First we have Velvet, a spy thriller written by the perpetually-awesome Ed Brubaker (of Winter Soldier and Gotham Central). The first issue sees Velvet Templeton dive into the action as she tries to solve the murder of the world's best secret agent. The twist? It's been her first field mission in about 20 years! Now entangled in secrets and lies, will she be able to successfully carry out her mission? Drawn by Steve Epting (who worked with Brubaker on Gotham Central), this book is dark and dramatic, but action-packed and thrilling enough to leave your heart pounding as you struggle to wait for the next issue.

Titled Pretty Deadly, the comic follows a young girl garbed in a cloak constructed from vulture feathers and her companion, a blind man who's a sharpshooter with a mysterious past. Together, they are on the run from the daughter of Beauty and Death and never seem to be far away from her grasp. DeConnick's writing and artist Emma Rios' artwork come together to create a gritty, thrilling western with a supernatural twist that is sure to become a favorite.

See you tomorrow!
